My NICU Graduate's JourneyHaving a preemie was terrifying. Nicholas was born 11 1/2 weeks early weighing just over 2 pounds. We were lucky that we both had amazing doctors and he only spent 12 hours on a ventilator, about a week on CPap, and then was maintaining his own oxygen levels after that. Every day another specialist would come in to check on him. One day his heart, the next his eyes or hearing, his intestines. He surprised us so much by surpassing all of his milestones with flying colors. He is now a healthy, strong, college football player.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?I am the most proud of the heart that Nicholas has for others. He volunteers his time to help his former schools football teams, he is always willing to help family and friends. He works so hard at anything he does. He will graduate college in just over a year and will become a special education teacher.
