NICU Hospital for my journeyRocky Mountain Hospital For Children
My NICU Graduate's JourneyWhere to start. Our first NICU journey as parents especially during the scariest time of the year. On top of having to live through a pandemic. This was a roller coaster of happy and scary emotions of the unexpected. Kaleo and I were life flighted to Denver due to preeclampsia symptoms in September 2020. Born early the next day and my first C-section baby. He didn’t even need oxygen at the moment and was breathing on his own. What had us mind blown was hearing from the nurses that he would try to roll off his isolette already lol. The hardest part was trying to be at two places and having to leave Kaleo until we can visit again. Hospital is four hours away, travel was exhausting and having to tend to our other children. Siblings and other visitors weren’t allowed to visit because of the pandemic so that was tough also. But it was always worth the visits. Anything for our Kaleo. We knew he was left in goods hands. Our favorite part was always looking forward to our care times with him and watching him gain weight. I loved doing kangaroo time and was the most amazing feeling! Overall Kaleo was a thriving and strong preemie. So thankful there were no other complications! He graduated 51 days in the NICU and got to come home November 2020. We’re forever grateful for all amazing doctors, nurses & staff who were under our care. They are the true hero’s!
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? He’s healthy and always thriving! The most sweetest, silly, articulate, smart, curious and energetic little soul! Loves to talk and learn new things. Our beautiful little miracle who completed our family!
