My NICU Graduate's Journey
Nathan was born with a rare genetic condition called recombinant 8. Only 50 kids have this condition. Nathan was burned and rushed to NICU with breathing and kidney issues. His condition got stable over the next few days and he was doing amazing after. We still had a long journey ahead as doctor wanted to wait for him to get to 10lbs before open heart surgery.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
Nathan is amazing guy! He’s had a total of 17 surgeries ( 2 open heart and one cath) spine surgery, G-tube surgery, knee surgery, and a few minor surgeries. He is a happy boy that loves water! He is a total ladies man and loves to flirt with his nurses. He would wink and smile and make the nurses laugh in his famous “taxi” ( wagon) rides around the unit. Nurses would ride in the wagon too. He’s gone through so much and is always happy!
