NICU Hospital for my journeyMonroe Carell Junior Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt
My NICU Graduate's JourneyWe were blindsided when my son Aiden was born with a bowel obstruction. He was rushed to the nearest Children’s Hospital where he would spend the first 5 months of his life. The first 3 of those 5 months were spent in the NICU. He endured numerous operations, blood transfusions, countless pokes and tests. Ultimately he was diagnosed with a rare bowel disease called Hirschsprung’s. Thankfully we were released to go home just before Mothers Day 2016. He has encountered a few bumps in the road but he is doing wonderful at the moment.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Aiden makes me so proud because he does not let his disease or having an ostomy slow him down. He has always pushed through with a brave smile in his face. He is an inspiration to me and so many in our little hometown.
