My NICU Graduate's Journey
Our story is very special to me. Born 13 weeks premature at 27 weeks coming in at 2 lbs 5 ozs was born a miracle baby. After 12 years of infertility and finally giving up hope of every becoming a mom blood pressure took me in. I didn't know I was pregnant till 24 hrs in the ICU. When they told me, they also said in a few hours a baby would be here. She spent the first month in the NICU and because she was doing very well moved her to the PICU all of this during the early stages of covid. She was born with jaundice and spent many days in the blue light, also have very minimal health concerns. I would spend my whole day at the hospital holding her giving her skin to skin all the time. Nurses noticed Abby did better when I was around and asked if I like to do her feedings because that was the only thing holding her back from going home. And within a week of me helping we brought her home 56 days later.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
I am proud because when she was born i didn't know i was pregnant and was smoking weed and drinking alcohol almost everyday. She did have some obstacles to get past but she passed with flying colors. She has reached all her development stages and ahead of schedule. I am proud that she is the most funny and caring kid that I know.
