My NICU Graduate's Journey
Mama thought she had it all planned out but James had other plans. He came into this world at 32 weeks gestation but other than his size, you wouldn’t have known. He was born at 3 lbs 11 oz. Everyone was worried that his lungs and other organs were underdeveloped but he proved to everyone that he was ready to be here.
He spent 21 days in the NICU to eat and grow and our goal was to get out by Thanksgiving. He hated wearing his sunglasses while under the bilirubin lights and loved to pull out his IVs.

He now loves big trucks, animal sounds, board games, and Baseball! “Go Twins!” He never stops talking and telling everyone all that he knows. He will wave and say hello to anyone walking by. If you are wearing a sports logo be prepared to talk about his favorite teams and players. “Homerun, Royce Lewis!!”
The only thing bigger than his love for sports are his hugs. He squeezes you hard and pats you on your back.

We are forever grateful to the NICU nurses and care team. This “Tiny but Mighty” nugget is a big brother and super friend because of you!

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
We are proud just to be James’ parents. It’s truly an honor to watch this little boy grow from the size of a softball to a full grown snuggle monster.
He is strong, sassy, silly, and LOUD! We wouldn’t change a thing.

The tough and trying times in the NICU seem like the first steps for our little Hero’s Journey!

We look forward to the years of adventure and exciting chapters of this epic boy’s life.
