NICU Hospital for my journey

My NICU Graduate's Journey
Delilah was born two months early, weighing 2 lb12 oz, and spent 50 days in NICU in the height of Covid - we could only see her two hours a day. Her three older siblings didn’t meet her until she came home. She was at Southern Regional Medical Center, and in the care of the absolutely best NICU team we could have prayed for. We will forever love them and be in their debt for caring for our little peanut when we couldn’t.

We learned a lot in that time, including a whole new level of trust and faith in God. I don’t know how we could’ve made it through without Him. We had to remind ourselves each day that she (and her siblings) are His, not ours. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world. We have a new appreciation for the time we get with our family.

God really showed off when He made this sweet girl. Delilah is now three years old, feisty as can be, and runs the show. She loves her family, church, food, dinosaurs, Oompa Loompas, and Bluey. You can always count on her for a giggle, a hug, a high five, and definitely some sass. Even though she’ll never remember her time in the NICU, we always will. We’ll tell her stories as often as we can, and remind her of God’s goodness and love. She’s our little miracle.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
Delilah came into this world fighting for her life - but she was always content. For as small as she was, she was strong. She still is. You never think of stubborn as a good quality - but it is in the NICU. Delilah has always been happy. It’s such a simple description, but it fits her so well. She’s just happy. Happiness exudes from her. She draws people in with that happiness, and it spreads from her to them. I see it all the time. I love the effect she has on people. She has contagious happiness. I can’t wait to see how God uses her in her future.
