NICU Hospital for my journeyWVU Children's Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyLexie was born two months early due to placental abruption. She was born blue and had a very weak pulse. She was immediately taken away from mom and hooked up to monitors and CPAP, and had tubes everywhere. We were told numerous times she may never make it home. After 31 days in the NICU, Lexie graduated and was able to come home finally. And then she got covid twice, RSV twice, and unending ear infections. She ultimately had to get tubes in her ears. She seems to catch everything going around, including cat scratch fever which caused a mass in her neck. After all this, she continues to be our happy girl and never lets anything slow her down. She is definitely our little warrior!
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?Lexie has fought hard to meet her milestones and accomplish so many things despite doctors telling us she never would be able to walk or talk. At 2 and half, Lexie not only walks, she runs and she talks non stop! What a beautiful voice she has!
