NICU Hospital for my journeySarasota Memorial Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyIsabella was conceived via IVF. She is the sole survivor of quads. Her 3 siblings were lost during the beginning of the 2nd trimester. Due to pre-eclampsia Isabella was born at 27 weeks via c-section, weighing 1 pound 10 oz. 12.5 inches long.
Isabella fought hard and after 75 days in the NICU, 2 weeks before her due date Isabella graduated from the NICU. Isabella would return a week later because of feeding issues.
She stopped breathing but daddy was there to save the day. It was a short stay, only 2 days. Isabella met her milestones slow, that is until she had her PDA repaired at 18 months. After that there was no stopping her. She is living life like any other typical child her age born full term. I often tell people, I can say I witnessed a miracle in my life.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? No matter what problem or roadblock she always persevered. I was told when she was the NICU she was purposeful. I have seen that for myself in the last almost 6 years.
