My NICU Graduate's Journey
Isaac was born with meconium aspiration, was on ECMO for 7 days, became addicted to the pain and sedating meds he was on to keep him comfortable while on ECMO, required a feeding tube for 9 months because he would aspirate when swallowing. He miraculously has no ill effects from his difficulty at birth. He is now a very smart 12 year old. He loves football and plays with the High School marching band as the youngest band member. He has been on the math bowl and spell bowl teams at his elementary school. He is enjoying life and the only way you could tell he had any issues is the scar on his neck from the ECMO cannula.

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
How far he has come in his 13 years of life. Straight A student, on the spell bowl and math bowl teams, and has taught himself to play 3 Instruments and knows how to play piano. He's an amazing friend, child, sibling and an overall great kid.
