My NICU Graduate's Journey
Born at just 23 weeks, Leila and her twin brother faced a tumultuous journey. Tragically, her brother passed away shortly after birth, leaving Leila to fight her own battles. Over her 160-day stay in the NICU, she endured a brain bleed, was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, underwent shunt and reservoir surgeries, had her PDA surgically closed, and required a G-tube placement. Despite these challenges, Leila's resilience shines through as she defies expectations and continues to thrive, now at home with oxygen support.
