NICU Hospital for my journeyLoyola University Medical Center
My NICU Graduate's JourneyIsaac was spent 116 days in the NICU. He was truly born a fighter. During his NICU stay Isaac contracted RSV which nearly claimed his life (in doctors words we were told on a Sunday morning he had no more than 10 minutes left to live). Right before his discharge he was diagnosed with a frontal lobe Encephalocele which is a rare neuro tube disorder.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?I am so proud of his resilience and the joy he has no matter what’s facing. In January of this year Isaac underwent a short routine surgery and upon waking him from anesthesia and removing his breathing tube he suffered a pulmonary edema which again almost claimed his life. He was admitted to the pediatric ICU in critical condition. Even with that Isaac recovered and returned to school as if nothing happened. He’s now graduating kindergarten with his friends as if nothing happened!
