NICU Hospital for my journeyThe Women’s Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyHenry was born at 33 weeks, 6 days gestation and was taken via emergency c-section after I woke up with major bleeding and an ambulance ride to the OBER. I was first medicated to try to stop contractions, but hemorrhaged again overnight and he was born the next morning. He was in the NICU for 25 days and his dad and I stayed at the attached Ronald McDonald House to be as close to him as possible. Although he spent his first Christmas in the NICU which was very hard as first time parents, we were there as much as we could be. Henry is our first born and came after much infertility struggles, miscarriages, failed IUI’s and 4 rounds of IVF. He is our miracle. We waited patiently for him to master eating while in the NICU and for his lungs to develop and strengthen. He’s been nothing but a fighter from the beginning.
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? He is kind, smart and a pure joy in our lives. He even loves the doctor now and asks to go. He’s been through a lot with doctors, surgeries and testing. Doctors to him mean suckers and popsicles!
