My NICU Graduate's Journey
At 25 weeks I was diagnosed with preeclampsia with severe features. At 26+ 5 they said we need to take him out. My blood pressure would rise to 210/120 constantly out of control. When he came out he had a hard time breathing for about a month. I wasn’t even able to hold him for the first 21 days of his life. He slowly got better and all the nurses loved him! Some nurses would come by and see how he was doing. He would have his bad days and good days but we eventually got to give him a bottle and he seemed to take off from there. Our stay in the NICU was 116 days and we got to have him home just in time for Thanksgiving. There were many things to be thankful that year. Outside of the NICU he continued to grow and thrive. We are still on 24 calories instead of 22 calories because of his acid reflux. He is a happy boy and mama is so proud of him!

What makes you proud of you NICU graduate?
My Benny is so motivated to keep moving. His therapist always said he’s so goal oriented and she can’t keep the same goals for him because he reaches them so fast! He’s fought his way through the nicu and outside the nicu to reach his actual age.
