NICU Hospital for my journeyAscension Providence Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyCollin was born by emergency C-section after medical professionals determined that to be the safest option after his heart rate presented as unstable. The delivery was non-problematic and our family was blessed with a precious 5.5lb baby boy. What landed him in the NICU later that evening was his high blood sugar. He was unable to maintain a blood sugar within normal limits. His sugar was checked multiple times a day with needle pricks to his feet. He took these tests like a champ! He had a UVC line placed that provided vascular access. Also, an NG tube that provided supplemental nutrition throughout his NICU stay. He was born with a dermal sinus tract that we found through ultrasound in utero. We evaluated this throughout pregnancy & after birth with multiple forms of medical imaging. An MRI to further evaluate the cyst & tract was schedule after NICU release. He did have a successful corrective & removal surgery at six months old! He is a healthy, happy & smart little boy! We can not believe he will be two years old come July of 2024. We will forever be grateful for the care & support we received from the Ascension Providence NICU in Waco, Tx. We have chosen to keep in touch with several members of the NICU medical staff. They are heroes of ours & will always be. They provided excellent medical care, a shoulder to cry on & endless support!
What makes you proud of you NICU graduate? After a 3wk NICU stay & surgery to remove a dermal sinus tract at 6months old, our almost 2 yr old is STRONG! He is healthy, happy, caring & smart!
