My age...2-1/2 yrs
My likes, quirks, & curiosities... I sleep on my back with my legs in the air! I love maintaining a census of the neighborhood squirrels.
A little about me...Derby here! I got my name due to the fact that when I run, it sounds like a horse race! I’m a rescue from TN & I have to say I’m living my best life here in New England! My Mom say I’m 50% Doberman, 25% Coonhound & 25% Cattle Dog. All I know is I’m 100% Derby! I love to swim, play fetch with any type of ring (I’m also known as The Lord of the Rings) & keep a watchful eye on the critters that come into my yard. I’m an excellent gardening assistant to my Mom & my Dad is my “ride or die”. I’m not a fan of thunderstorms & my Mom is nice enough to hang out with me in the bathroom during those loud thunderclaps. I’m a super friendly goofball who loves everyone. I especially love my Grammy & Grampy! They watch me sometimes when Mom & Dad cannot. My Grampy takes me down to the high school field & cross country trails for long walks. Afterwards, I love to curl up next to my Grammy on the couch. Fun fact: I sleep between my Mom & Dad in the “big bed” & get under the covers & rest my head on my own pillow like a human. Dad says I’m a “bed hog” & that me & Mom are plotting to get the most bed space from Dad. He says we’re “in cahoots”! Mom & Dad are especially thankful for organizations like the NHSPCA (& so many other rescue groups!) who save sweet creatures like me from a life of neglect, abuse, inadequate medical care & so much more! They know it’s difficult work & very often, unfortunately, a thankless job. All three of us are so blessed that my rescuer & foster mom, Carrie, found me wandering on the side of the road in TN & invited me to her house. She calls it a “foster home”, whatever that means. I just know it was the first time I felt safe, secure, loved & was well cared for & got to hang out with other pups with similar stories like mine! They say that I’m one of the “lucky ones” & I sure do feel like a lucky guy! My parents tell me that THEY are the lucky ones, to have been blessed with being able to adopt me. I can’t say I can argue with that - I’m a good time!! By voting for me, you’ll not only give me a chance to grace the calendar with my handsome “mug”, but you’ll also be funding & supporting the work that the NHSPCA does to ensure other animals are able to say they are “the lucky ones” like me! Xoxo, Derby
