My dog is the coolest because...
Nova is neurotic, loud, and needs daily reassurance that the world is not out to get her. Her ideocracies can change weekly, so we’re always prepared to alter our routine for her needs. She requires at least an hour of pets and belly rubs to settle for the evening otherwise she will paw at you and pout. She barks at the slightest noise thanks to her big ears. Although she’s the highest maintenance dog I have ever lived with, she is also the most attentive. She sleeps curled next to me every night, always needing to be touching even if it’s a single toe nail pressed against my leg. She’s always nearby, following me from room to room.

Nova is the most sensitive dog I have ever known. Her feelings are easily hurt, whether it’s a slightly raised voice or accidentally dropping an item, she immediately thinks it’s directed at her. She grovels for forgiveness even though she’s done nothing wrong and half the time isn’t even in the room when the noise occurred.

Although reactive to other dogs and people, she is a great hiking partner and loves to go kayaking. She is calmest when up north at our cabin and turns into a completely different tranquil dog. She has taught me so much in the six years we’ve been together. As obnoxious and anxious as she is, she’s my constant companion and I love her greatly.
