My dog is the coolest because...
I think Mischa can explain it best......
It all started one day when I was eating Cheetos with Sandie and Anita from Mit Liebe German Shepherd Rescue. When in thru the doors of Liberty K9 Lodge walks this fun foster couple. I knew right then and there I found my forever home (even if they didn’t know it yet). After a short visit we packed up all my belongings in their car. I had so much stuff I barely fit! After a short drive we arrived at a nice house with a super cool backyard. I was so excited I busted thru their screened in porch to check it out. I then heard the girl yell “When is the foster period over and we can put this dog up for adoption?” No big deal, I knew I had three weeks to win them over. Right now there are squirrels to chase! As the days went on I could tell the guy was really starting to like me. But the girl still didn’t want me. You see she lost her dog 12 years ago and was so devastated she just couldn’t open her heart up to the possibility of letting another dog in. I knew I had my work cut out for me and time was running out. So, I started doing really cute things like taking her belongings and hiding them under the bed. It wasn’t working so the guy suggested we try running together. We ran so much I felt like I was Forest Gump. One day we even ran 20 miles together. I could tell with each mile I was inching my way into her heart. But she still wasn’t sure she wanted me as part of their family. It was now two days before my adoption date. We went to training class to fill out the paperwork for me to go live with a nice couple from up north. I felt so defeated I tried everything I could to win this girl over and she still didn’t want me. When out of the blue I heard the guy say, “I don’t know Sandie we are thinking we might want to keep her”. What? Did my big dingo ears hear that right? Sandie said, “You are her foster parents you get the first chance to adopt but I will need to know tonight.” I looked up at the girl and she had tears in her eyes. It was a flood of emotions and within seconds everyone was crying. I did it I found my forever home!
I should be top dog because I feel as though I represent all of us underdogs. We might not have a fancy title behind our names or win any competitions. We are just your everyday dogs getting a second chance at life thru adoption. Our number one job every day is to love our families, make them laugh, and just be the best dog we know how to be. We are top dogs to our families and that’s all that matters to us.
How did you hear about NEW Top Dog?
