My dog is the coolest because...
Salem was found left on the side of the road tied to garbage bags. She was brought into a vet clinic my husband & I were volunteering at & couldn't stop shaking. She was completely terrified and it broke our hearts. We spent extra time with her that day and the week following making sure that she knew not all people were as horrible as the ones who left her behind. She began to trust us, would show excitement whenever we came in to volunteer & it wasn't long before we became attached. We decided that she needed to be a part of our family & we'd do whatever we could to make her forget all of the bad from her past. I was unfortunately involved in a horrible dog mauling a few years after we adopted her & she stayed by my side through all of my healing & recovery. After the attack, I really didn't know if I'd be afraid to be around dogs again. To say that I was traumatized is an understatement, but because of her caring and kind nature, I did not lose my love or trust for dogs. SHE helped me to not have fear, showed me that I was safe with her, & that she'd stay by my side through it all just like we had done for her. There are not enough words to describe how much she means to us! Salem's our protector, our therapist, our nurse. She does the silliest things to make us laugh and smile! (like the picture I submitted! I can't look at it and not laugh or smile!) She's even the taste-tester for our dog treat business! If we make a treat & she doesn't like it, it's back to the kitchen to tweak it until she approves! She's our beautiful, sweet, incredibly goofy girl and I don't know what we would ever do without her. Despite the grey on her face, at 11 years old, she sure doesn't show her age! She loves walks, loves to snuggle, absolutely LOVES to play! Everyone says, "I have the BEST dog," but we definitely believe that we really do! In our eyes, she's the top dog already! She may not have had the best start to her life, but we want to make sure that the rest of it is better than the best! That's what she truly deserves! We'd appreciate your vote!
