My dog is the coolest because...
Affectionately nicknamed "Bargain Bin George", this sweet boy had been adopted and returned multiple times when we met him at the Humane Society. George was the first dog you saw when you walked in; his kennel tag showed that the cost of adopting him had been reduced... a few times.

Laying quietly in his kennel, ignoring the chaos around him, who in their right mind would have given him up?

We soon learned that to love George meant chasing him around the neighborhood multiple times a week because he's an escape artist and loved visiting the Salvation Army down the street, sharing our sweatshirts with him because clothes make him feel fancy and he's grumpy when he's cold, remembering to give him his allergy medication every day, and hearing his groans every time he disagrees with a decision of ours or wants to go to bed earlier than we do.

But loving George also means getting stared at with eyes that shine with affection (and sass) when you're having a bad day, hearing his happy snores as he naps in the sun, having an adventure buddy for every hike, and knowing that we're giving him the life he deserves.

We may not have been George's first family, but as he begins his senior years we love that we get to say we're his fur-ever family.
