My dog is the coolest because...
Odin is a rescue in every sense of the word. Being an “experimental dog” at the University of MN, he stood little chance at “living his best life” as they say.

That all changed when Odin was adopted by a local farmer who, having suffered PTSD of his own, understood Odin’s apprehensions and brought him home in hopes of giving him a purpose. And in that small act of kindness… Odin‘s life was forever changed. Odin became the ultimate protector of his new “farm family” and for the first time, Odin’s life purpose took on a whole new meaning.

Three years later, due to some unfortunate life changes, Odin’s Dad made the difficult choice to rehome him and his goat brothers… no easy task. Through the power of social media, we became the lucky family to accept Odin for all of his perfect imperfections and welcome him to his new home here at Wilson’s Wish. It took nearly a year of patience and understanding to assure Odin that he was safe and loved; nearly a year for this gentle giant to let his guard down. But we persevered … and so did Odin. Starting with small pets bribed by treats to ear rubs during feeding time, we worked every day to reassure Odin that no one would ever hurt him again.

Although Odin is still a “working dog” (cause clearly it was his mission in life, and there is NOTHING he’d rather being doing), it is now evident to us (and to Odin) that he is truly part of our family. It is amazing to watch him work the pastures to ensure that everyone here is safe. His responsibilities have grown over the past 2.5 years as the sanctuary, but he happily rises to the occasion with every new member we bring home. He is VERY proud of the hard work he does to keep our family safe every day! He now greets us at the barn and follows us happily around, nonchalantly reminding us that butt scratches are welcome at any time!

Odin is the epitome of strength and resilience. He’s proof that second chances due exist, and the power of love and understanding can make an immeasurable impact on someone’s life.

Odin has spent his entire life in the shadows, literally hoping to go unnoticed. But not anymore… this is Odin’s time to be in the spotlight for once. He’s the hardest working man around, has an undeniable love and dedication to his family and the most gentle soul you’ll ever meet.

We’d love everyone to know Odin’s story… and maybe, just maybe… His beautiful life could make an impact on the lives of others who are sometimes misunderstood.
