Pickles
Pet's Story
On a frigid night in February, the shelter received a call from Danbury Animal Control asking if we could take in a tiny chihuahua that was found in a cardboard box at the Danbury Fair Mall parking lot. We work closely with Officer Simone and many times will take smaller dogs in since the DAC facility does not have a small area for them. When he picked her up, he was shocked at her condition and let us know that she was in bad shape. She was malnourished, lethargic, had leg and back issues, and a broken tail. Well, after long nights, medical treatment, physical therapy, and lots of love from us and donors, she is now a happy girl! She will always need lots of care but she's come a long way. So little Pickles is our inspiration every day of why we rescue. As she scoots around the office or when she barks to eat or be picked up for hugs, we know how far she's come and we are grateful to all that helped us save her!
