Savanah
Pet's Story
Savanah is our rescue beagle. She was at a kill shelter down in Georgia on her last day of life. Starved, ribs sticking out, respiratory infection, limping, cut on her ear, if you went to pet her, she ducked and curled up. Obviously severely abused in many ways. I didn't realize any of this until we actually met her in a parking lot when brought up from the rescue group. I fell in love instantly. She gobbled up the chicken I brought from home, had no manners, not housebroken. She was about 12 months and had just had puppies before being rescued. It took a lot of love and patience, but now this little girl, is my life. She is loving, very attached to me, well behaved, housebroken, happy and well fed. She is still afraid of loud noises, a water hose, and there are some people that remind her of her abusers, which she might shy away from. She is the sweetest and when I look at that face, I wonder what she went through, and how someone could ever cause her harm. She is my therapy dog. She knows when I am getting heart arythmias and sits at my side. Of course all our dogs in the past were the best in my eyes, but Savanah has taken over. We rescued one another and that's something pretty special. We are both thankful to all the rescue groups out there, who unite and save the abused and forgotten. Xo
