Hi, I’m Roger—though you might remember me as Trooper, the name NCAL gave me when I was found starving and barely alive on the side of the road in Wolcott. I never got to say thank you to the two kind humans out walking that day who called for help. If you’re out there reading this—thank you! Your compassion, and NCAL’s big-hearted care, saved my life.

I’m now a proud NCAL alum, tipping the scales at a healthy 80 pounds (up from just 28 when they rescued me), and I'm living my best life. I share a home with a couple of 4-legged siblings and, now that I'm settled, we've open our house to fostering rescue doggos like me.

I’ve officially dubbed myself the Unofficial Mayor of Johnson—I take my job seriously and make it a point to greet every neighbor on my walks. I love being Mom’s copilot on our car adventures, I tolerate camping for the sake of family fun, and I’m a firm believer that couches are meant for dogs, too.

My rough start didn’t take away my sweetness, trust, or zest for life. I firmly believe every stranger is just a friend I haven’t met, every walk could lead to snacks, and that the couch, mom's lap and that sunny spot on the floor are the best places to nap.

Putting my face on a beer can would be more than just adorable—it’d be a tribute to all the animals waiting for their turn to be seen, saved, and celebrated. Every sip could remind someone that rescue dogs like me aren’t broken—we’re just crafted with extra character.
