Tell us why your pet is the best ambassador for the North Country Animal League's Rescue Brew Beer (from your pet’s perspective)Hi my name is Teddy Toes! I am a polydactyl cat, meaning I have a few extra toes. Get it? I am a rescue from Pope Memorial Frontier Animal Shelter in Orleans, Vermont. My story is an interesting one! My two siblings and I were born in the first few hours of our mother arriving at the animal shelter after being rescued from a homeless encampment along with a nursing mother of four kittens and a male cat. My siblings and I were rejected by our mother, likely due to her young age and the stress of her being at the shelter. It’s okay, I don’t hold it against her! My litter mates and I were put with the nursing mother and her litter of four but sadly our new litter mates tried to kill and smother me by biting me neck and not letting me nurse—possibly because I was the smallest and/or the only orange kitten in the group! But don’t worry, this story has a happy ending! I was taken in by a staff member as a foster at 10 days old and the rest is history! After being bottle fed, nurtured, and spoiled like the special kitten that I am, I just turned 6 months old and am living my best life! The staff member who took me in has called me a foster fail which means I get to live with her forever! I think I am the best candidate for NCAL’s Brew Crew because I am the embodiment of what an animal rescue success story looks like! My story shows how invaluable all of our local and regional animal shelters are and the lifelong positive impact they make on community cats like me! Every cat deserves a happy ending like mine!
