Napa Humane strives to promote the welfare of companion animals through protection, advocacy, education, and by example.
Since 1973, the Humane Society of Napa County & SPCA, Inc. – known as “Napa Humane” – has worked to make Napa Valley a more compassionate place for companion animals. Our programs and services are uniquely designed to address the needs of companion animals and to provide support, education, and assistance for all the people who care for and about them. As the only regularly operating, low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter clinic in Napa County, Napa Humane is leading the way to ending pet overpopulation in Napa County and surrounding communities.
In 2023, we saw 8,763 animals for our lifesaving, prevention-focused services, including:
- performing 4,127 spay/neuter surgeries
- administering 10,429 vaccines and microchips
- providing behavior education and training to 223 dogs and their owners
and connected 4,933 people who care for and about pets to informational resources, including:
- providing free, in-class presentations and educational materials teaching kindness and compassion toward animals to 3,433 children
- fielding thousands of calls seeking behavior help and referrals
We provide volunteer, internship, and employment opportunities for young people to learn about animal welfare and/or pursue their education in the field and recently opened a scholarship fund for local students pursuing veterinary medicine.
It is through our prevention-focused, community-based services that we are working toward a more humane Napa Valley.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported 100% by below-market fee-for-service, private donations, grants, and fundraising events. Napa Humane does not receive money from national animal welfare organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA, nor do we receive government funds.
You can help us create our vision: a humane home for every adoptable companion animal in Napa Valley. All funds raised through our Pet Photo Contest will help keep fees for our life-saving programs and services below market rate or free for community members.
