Rules

HOW IT WORKS:
  • Submit a photo of your pet to our contest online between 12:01:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Sunday, September 1, 2024 and 11:59:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Monday, September 30, 2024.
  • Voting determines which photos will be featured in our calendar. Anyone can vote—encourage friends and family to support your pet!
  • There are 13 winning spots: one cover and one per month. Categories are Dogs, Cats, and Rabbits.
  • The top fundraiser across all categories will get the cover.
  • Additional winners: Top 5 dogs, Top 5 cats,  and Top 2 rabbits will be featured as Pet of the Month. Winners will be assigned to months by Napa Humane staff.
  • All non-winning entries will appear in collage pages.
  • Proceeds support Napa Humane’s life-saving programs and services.
HOW TO ENTER PHOTOS:
  • Submit photos online by 11:59:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Monday, September 30, 2024 through the Participate tab.
  • $40 entry fee includes one photo entry, 10 votes, and one complimentary 2025 calendar. You can also make additional donations, with each $1 counting as one vote.
  • Photos must meet quality requirements (see Image Rules below).
  • Fees and votes are tax-deductible. Napa Humane will send email receipts upon submission so please save your donation acknowledgment email for your tax files.
  • Napa Humane may disqualify entries based on content. Fees and donations are non-refundable.
  • Submitted photos become property of Napa Humane and may be used in publications. Submitters retain usage rights.
IMAGE RULES:
  • Landscape orientation only.
  • Photos must feature domestic dogs, cats, or rabbits. No people, farm animals, or wildlife.
  • Must be high-resolution (300 dpi or greater at 11 inches wide by 8.5 inches high or 4 MB minimum) and in .jpg or .png format.
  • No digital overlays, collages, stickers, or heavy edits.
  • Outdoor photos of cats and dogs must show them with tags and collars. Napa Humane may add them if missing.
  • Photos showing intact male pets are not eligible.
  • No mail-in submissions.
  • Napa Humane reserves the right to disqualify an entry based on objectionable content or depiction of an animal. The registration fee will not be refunded. Donations (votes) are non-refundable.
  • Photos not meeting these rules will be disqualified.

VOTING:
  • Votes are online only through the Participate tab, ending on 11:59:59 PM (Pacific Time) on Monday, September 30, 2024.
  • Support your favorite photo by making a donation! Each dollar you contribute counts as a vote, so the more you give, the higher the chances your favorite photo wins
  • Donations start at $5 each, with each $5 counting as five votes. You can vote for one entry or spread your votes.
  • Donations (votes) are non-refundable and tax-deductible. Email receipts serve as tax proof.
  • No mail, in-person, or phone votes are accepted. 
RESERVE A DAY:
  • Each Reserve A Day spot costs $10 and does not require entry into the general Pet Photo Contest. Your pet’s photo will be featured on the date you select, first-come, first-served.
  • Does not include a calendar. Calendars must be purchased separately.

2025 CALENDARS:
  • One free calendar is included with each photo contest entry. Additional calendars are available for purchase.
  • Shipment: calendars are estimated to ship from the printer by early- to mid-December, but an email will be sent out once the shipment date is known.
