Your Pet's Rescue StoryBenji, (really Benjamin) was deserted with his twin brother Franklin (yes, Benjamin and Franklin). We saw his picture circulated on Facebook and melted. He was a tiny, sweet faced puppy and we knew he was exactly what our family needed. But, because he was so small we started calling him Benji- Benjamin was just such a big name for 2 pound scruffballl. Benji has been an unending source of laughter at our house. 2016 brought some losses in our family and through it all- Benji has been nothing short of a loyal laugh. He has no perspection of his size, he taught himself to play dead (although walking a leash still evades him) has about a 4 foot vertical leap (seriously- he can jump on my kitchen counter) he attends school at Luna's Pet Luau and where he was described as "a lot". He is just that. He is a lot of love, laughter, fun and energy. He is our little rescue with a big presence.
Cadet was our first furchild. We adopted him after my husband came home from Afghanistan. Within his first two years of life, Cadet lived in 3 homes and became well known to all the neighborhood kids as the little dog on the block that loves to play with anyone and anything. He's our miracle dog. Two years ago he was at our front stoop and was chased into the street by a larger dog. He was hit by a car, not just any car, a large SUV. I feared for the worst but rushed him to our vet. Several rounds of X-rays later, and 4 days under observation- we realized he didn't have anything more than some bruising and sprains. Not a single broken bone! He has paid it forward as the neighborhood "therapy dog." His kind disposition makes him a great cuddle buddy on a bad day. His best day is a trip to Blue Jacket Park to chase tennis balls.
Both of our digs have had profound impacts on our lives- along with the lives of our friends and families. Our favors breed is rescue mutt!
