Your Pet's Rescue StoryHumans rescue animals every day,
That is thinking in the traditional way.
I like to think my little girl rescued me,
Just read my rhyme and you will see.
As a captain in the army I spent a year in Afghanistan,
No friends, no family, just dessert and sand.
The things that happened and the time that passed,
I came to realize the old me wouldn't last.
It was a thing of beauty returning to the US,
Surviving the ultimate military test.
Those I loved the most welcomed me with open arms,
And people thanked me for protecting them from harm.
Something was missing from my life back in the states,
The void of feeling anything I started to hate.
Until I saw this tiny Dachshund pup,
Small enough to fit in my coffee cup.
I knew right then that we were meant to be,
My little Brenda Sue and me.
The minute she came home I could feel the ice melt from my heart,
A beautiful thing had happened and this was the start.
I took B. Sue everywhere that I went,
To bars, family gatherings, concerts, any free time with her I spent.
Dancing in my living room or singing songs,
When I carried Brenda with me life couldn't go wrong.
It may sound silly that one little dog could change so much,
But those four legged furry friends have a magic touch.
I don't remember who I was before she rescued me,
This dog has forever bettered my life-I hope you see.
