Your Pet's Rescue StoryDAISY-MAI IS ORLANDO STRONG
I rescued Daisy-Mai, a pedigree Pomeranian, from a Pomeranian breeder on July 5, 2011. Daisy was born at Kandylands Pomeranians in north Florida. Instead of being sold as a puppy, she was kept there and used for breeding. Daisy was forced to give birth to 6 litters by the age of five. That is true abuse. She was "bred" almost to death. After her sixth litter only produced one puppy, she was spayed and put up for sale. I found her sweet little face on the breeder's website under the heading "Older Dogs." It was love at first sight! I immediately called the breeder to ask if the dog pictured, Daisy-Mai, was still available. She was and, within two days, we were driving up to north Florida to pick up my beautiful little girl. When we arrived at Kandylands Pomeranians, I found Daisy to be gentle, sweet and loving even though she smelled horribly and her fur was tangled and knotted as though she had never been brushed. That turned out to be one of the best days of my life! Now, Daisy-Mai is a healthy, beautiful 12 year old Therapy Dog. Being a member of the Orlando Health Pet Therapy Program, Daisy-Mai recently had the pleasure of spending many hours at the Orlando Regional Medical Center visiting victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting and their families. In what was a sad and terrible situation, Daisy was able to bring happiness, laughter and smiles to so many in need. In the photo, Daisy is wearing her "Orlando Strong" colors while at work at ORMC !
