Your Pet's Rescue StoryMe to my wife: No beagles
Wife to me: He is sitting in the back of his crate at Petsmart with the New Beginnings group and we are getting him.
Me to my wife: No beagles, I had one growing up. They bark and run away and are food crazy
Wife to me: He looked at me and we are getting him whether you like it or not.
Me to my wife: Seriously, no beagles.
Wife to me: Get in the car, go to the ATM and get cash for the adoption fee. Either both you and he are sleeping at our house tonight or neither of you are.
Me to wife: Um, ok
In the words of the Guess Who, "THESE EYES..."
Once he unloaded that look it was all over for both of us and we think that look would look great on a bottle of Quantum Leap Rescue Red.
Bandit was a rescue from New Beginnings Pet Rescue and had been rescued from a kill shelter in Alabama when he was about 9 month's old. We had little history on him but it was clear his name fit as we brought him home and he took all of our other rescue dog Stella's toys and put them in his crate. The first few months were an interesting series of escapes out the door or sudden bolting on walks including his longest full-speed adventure from our home near Lake Lawsona all the way to Muchos on Eola Drive with his leash attached.
It's now 3 years later and we are the luckiest Beagle parents around. Something clicked in his cute little head after the first few months and not only does he not run anymore but we can actually let him out in our unfenced side yard and he hangs and will come when called. He has the beagle bark but never uses it except when running with a pack at the dog park. He and our Stella (85lb black lab mutt) are best buds.
So take a look at the picture and try and not vote for him. Not possible....THOSE EYES!!!!!
