Your Pet's Rescue Story
My husband and I moved into our first home and were interested in rescuing a dog. We decided to go to Pet Alliance of Sanford to see some dogs from their website for their July 4, $17.76 promotion. After meeting a few dogs and not really connecting we decided to try meeting one more. When Harlow walked into the room, she was so scared. Tail tucked, head down, and shaking. She tried hiding under a chair which is hard for a 60lb dog. So I got on the floor to be less intimidating to see if she might open up. She tentatively came over and sniffed my offered hand. I gave her a few comforting pets and she immediately laid down next to me and put her head on my lap. I even got a few small tail wags. My husband was skeptical looking at her paperwork. It said she was afraid of everything and allergic to almost all foods, but he took one look at us and knew that Harlow had chosen her people. She curled up for the car ride to her new home not knowing what was happening but we loved her so much already. We let her slowly inspect the house and when she saw the backyard her eyes lit up. She started doing zoomies and rolling in the grass and even let my husband give her belly rubs. We tried to get her to sleep in a dog bed that night but she somehow silently squeezed herself onto the foot of our bed just to be near us. She has been the perfect fit ever since. She takes us for walks, LOVES playing with the garden hose (actually a bit obsessed), and can’t wait for the next car ride. She’s the best snuggler and loves everyone she meets. We are so happy she rescued us that day!
