Your Pet's Rescue Story
I rescued Optimus (also known as Opti) from a rescue in Virginia. In his previous life he had been chained outside and was not potty trained, struggled with interacting with other dogs, and clearly was not used to living indoors. However, it was obvious he had the biggest heart and still loved people despite how he had been neglected.

We bonded instantly when I saw him shaking in the cage at the shelter and I knew I had to take him home. I named him Optimus because I had faith he was going to have a tremendous transformation (think Optimus Prime from the Transformers) once he got settled in his new home. After a few months of love, work, and tons of training treats, he mastered potty training, learned to trust humans, how to go on walks, and so much more. Now (11 years later) he’s still the most loving, gentle, and loyal best friend. I can’t imagine the last 11 years without him by my side.

He loves long walks, playing in the yard with his brother Bee, and bedtime snuggles. He’s a shining example of the immense love and loyal companionship that shelter pups have to offer. We hope his transformation story will inspire others to adopt because there are so many amazing pets that are in need of a second chance at their forever home.
