Your Pet's Rescue StoryIn September 2015, our friend heard a meow outside his front door. There was Elby, sitting on his doorstep! She had decided she had enough of being an outside cat and please, could she come inside?
He took her in and she decided, yes, she really did like this whole inside thing. Much to his surprise, he wasn't just taking in Elby. She was pregnant! Elby was still a tiny kitten herself, so the vet guessed that she got pregnant very young. Only a week after finding out she was pregnant, Elby had her litter. 4 even tinier kittens, who she took great care of.
One by one, the kittens were adopted to loving homes, but no one wanted mama cat! After a few months, our friend asked us to watch Elby "just for the weekend." Of course, Elby is much too sweet and cute for that and so she found her loving forever home with us.
Black cats are the least adopted- a common reason is because people think they don't photograph well. Elby disagrees! In fact, that's where her name comes from. When we were coming up with a name, we called her Little Black Cat... or Elby for short.
Elby has gorgeous yellow eyes and two little white patches for pizazz. She loves to snuggle, sit politely, and "meerkat" on her back legs for attention. Her favorite activity is sitting by the window and watching lizards. She also loves to play fetch with crinkle balls (she returns it... almost all the way). She's constantly purring very, very loudly. We like to think that means she likes it here with us.
