Your Pet's Rescue StoryChip is a good boy who I was fortunate enough to find at the Orlando Pet Alliance on Black Friday 2017. Due to prevalent breed restrictions in many communities and apartment complexes throughout Orlando, there are often an abundance of “pit bull” type dogs in shelters. As soon as I bought a house with a backyard, with no community restrictions, I felt an obligation to adopt one of these wonderful, if misunderstood animals. I like to joke that he is the best $25 I’ve ever spent! Seriously though Chip has brought me so much joy. He’s amazingly gentle, if sometimes stubborn, and his favorite activities include going for walks, playing tug with his stuffed animals, and lounging in the sun. Chip has never met a dog or person he didn’t like, and is sometimes a handful on walks when he sees another dog. When he sees other dogs, he begins crying and immediately wants to approach them to say hello with all of the excitement his 80lb frame can muster. Regardless, Chip is a wonderful best friend and I can’t thank the Orlando Pet Alliance enough for keeping him happy and healthy so that I could adopt him.
If you are thinking about adopting, please don’t look past a dog just because they look like a “pit bull” - Do some thorough research, then make an informed decision! These are amazing dogs, please give them a chance.
