Freedom is an attitude and this guy is the embodiment of that attitude. Murdock was found in a junk yard. He survived that already being blinded by mature cataracts and hindered by spondylosis (fusing of vertebrae). Murdock was emaciated, had a skin infection and tested heartworm positive. We assume that he garnered thieving and scavenging skills during his time alone, afraid and blind in a strange place. He used those skills to absolutely steal our hearts. We intended to just be his retirement home and give him the best life and most love he could get for the time he had left. Within seconds of having him at our home, we could tell what a special little guy he was. Even though the vets believe that he is between 11 and 14 years old, his spirit has remained bright and he has been happier than we would have believed possible. At his age, the vets agreed that normal heartworm treatment would be dangerous but, that his “worm burden” was enough that we needed to take the chance and get him through the treatment before it was too late. After 2+ months of carrying him everywhere (including outside to potty) Murdock was given his clean bill of health just 3 days ago. Murdock was named after the blind super hero Daredevil whose real-life name is Matt Murdock. Through all the treatment, painful shots, difficulty eating and constant nursing, Murdock has always had a wagging tail to greet his people. God truly did put a huge heart in this tiny package and that has helped our little Murdock through the rough months of treatment. Murdock is finally free of those heartworms and has truly made our home his forever home. Please consider voting for our little star spangled super hero, Murdock.
