Maddie is the first small dog we’ve had as part of our fur family. She has a Golden Retriever she trained from a pup, as well two rescue kitties she adopted as her feline siblings. They are truly the best of friends.

We were greeted by Maddie at the Houston Dog Show, MSRH rescue section. She was sitting in the back in her cute little red shirt. She stole our hearts with her big brown eyes and has been the joy of our life ever since.

It is funny to say Maddie is a rescue when in fact we feel she rescued us. You see, we had just lost our rescue pup of 14 years and we were heartbroken as we walked through all the doggies in need. My husband and I promised each other we wouldn’t go home with another dog as it was too soon to do so after the loss of our sweet Lucy. When our eyes locked with Maddie’s she stole both our hearts. We went home that evening and decided she was the pup for us.

Those who have taken in a rescue know the grateful spirit they express. We certainly feel Maddie is truly grateful for us, but more important we are so grateful for her. We couldn’t imagine our life without our little mini!
