About Us

Mary’s Dogs Rescue and Adoption (MDRA) was established in Feb 2011 by Mary Doane out of a passion to save animals and to foster the human/animal bond. In 2016 the Doane’s reached a decision to retire, from that decision a small group of staff and volunteers formed and the rescue was reorganized and converted into a 501c3 non-profit in Jan 2017.

Mary’s Dogs Rescue & Adoption is a compassionate, non-profit rescue dedicated to saving dogs and placing them in loving homes in the Northeast. We are led by a Board of Directors and run with a full-time Executive Director and part-time staff. MDRA currently rescues over 300 dogs a year from high kill shelters in the South, places them in homes locally and has grown a vast network of volunteers and fosters in the process. As a dedicated non-profit dog rescue, MDRA strives to continue to raise awareness through outreach education programs within the community, local schools and businesses. MDRA is not only raising awareness for rescue in general, but also the need for spay/neuter programs in the South. This fundraiser supports our mission, and assists in saving more abused, frightened and neglected dogs, regardless of their breed, size or age.
