Our goals are to educate people on responsible pet ownership and to reduce the homeless pet population through adoptions and spay/neuter. All animals for adoption are up to date on shots and have been spayed or neutered. We typically assist 100 animals per year, with limitations due to space and volunteer time. We also do community assistance by sharing supplementary grant funds for spay/neuter cost to families needing it. This is derived from the State of Mississippi Car Tag grant program. We also share dog and cat supplies and sometimes pet food to those who need help. We have done over 11,000 spay/neuter surgeries since 1999, which helps with the animal overpopulation problem in our area. We also work with Mississippi State University’s college of Veterinary Medicine, by sending dogs to the northeast through their Homeward Bound program. We are a Petco Partner and do adoption days at a location near us to help our dogs and cats get adopted to good prescreened homes. All our funding comes from donations and fundraisers, as we receive no public or private funding. We welcome new volunteers to help with daily cleaning of our shelter, socializing the animals, working at spay/neuter clinic, helping with adoptive home visits, assisting with fundraisers, and making trips to Petco for adoption days, or Starkville to get pets started on their “Homeward Bound” journey.
