About
Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (M.A.M.A.S.), formed in 2001, is located in Bamberg, SC. M.A.M.A.S. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that serves as the Bamberg County dog shelter.
M.A.M.A.S. and Safe Haven Puppy Rescue (the rescue division of M.A.M.A.S.) together with our transport team, MAMAS On the Move Transport, have made a significant contribution to Bamberg and surrounding counties. M.A.M.A.S. cares for abandoned and unwanted dogs while they await to be adopted to approved homes locally or to be transported to new, loving homes or rescues in other states.
M.A.M.A.S. is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of animals. We are a No-Kill facility that depends mostly on donations to care and find homes for those in our charge. Only one of the five towns within our county has an animal control officer and with our limited resources, we are unable to pick up animals so the ones we have are brought to us by people who find strays or owners who give them up. Bamberg County Council supplies a very small percentage of our funding so we are dependent upon donations from friends of the shelter and the public.
Our goal is to continue to tackle the local problem of dog overpopulation by seeking spay/neuter grants, educating the community on the importance of responsible pet ownership and helping dogs currently in need by offering them a safe, loving environment as they transition to new lives.
