A little about me...
From Texas to West Virginia, this pup has seen more than his fair share. Found by our personal heroine in Houston, burned and terrified, Starky eventually made his way to Long Way Home to be healed; not just his poor battered body, but his broken heart and terrified mind. (All thanks to the incredible team of vets and techs, but a big grateful thank you, to his foster Mahm!) The moment, the *very* moment, I saw his sweet face, I knew this was the pup I needed in my life. After talking to the kind, and wise, souls at LWH, we all knew Stark would be the perfect addition and the right dog for my first dog. He has terrors if a smoke alarm sounds, and there are still some things deeply ingrained that he shies away from, he always has to wear sunscreen and/or a tshirt to protect the scars, and he despises water, but Starky has become the quintessential "follow you like a puppy" dog. Oh, how he has blossomed! He LOVES snow and as soon as the first flake falls, he's outside doing zoomies. When his human babies are around, he takes his job as protector very seriously. His feline sisters sleep on him as if he's a big pillow, his feline brother takes walks with him. He chases squirrels, but leaves the deer alone. If the coyotes are near, he won't let us venture far at night and when he spots a bird of prey, his nose goes straight to the skies. But make no mistake, he saved me, too. He entered my life just when I needed him most and he knows when I need him close; at those times, wild horses couldn't drag him away. Everyone teases me that Starky is *definitely my dog,* and they're right. And I wouldn't change a thing - except maybe that stinky breath...whew! But the love he gives unconditionally, certainly makes up for it!
