Mrs. Angela Cantrell is a valued member of the Math and Science departments at RMSA, Ms. Cantrell serves as a member of the 7th grade team, and coaches the RMSA volleyball team. In the classroom, she is a dynamic educator who holds her students to high expectations. She possesses a great command of her classroom and differentiates daily instruction to meet the various needs of her students. During classroom observations, students are actively engaged and genuinely enjoy learning about math and science. Ms. Cantrell has a great rapport with students and is sensitive to their socio-emotional and academic needs. Truly caring about her students, she strives to connect with them on a personal level by taking interest in their extra-curricular activities and interests. She encourages students to continuously strive for excellence and always maintains a professional demeanor in any situation. Ms. Condon, the Science Department Head shares, “Angie Cantrell has a student-centered classroom where students actively participate as individuals and collaborative groups. She is dedicated to student learning and offers engaging lessons where she encourages discussion and critical thinking. Her students love her because she is high energy, fun and engaging. Ms. Cantrell has that rare and perfect blend of passion, helpfulness, and creativity; we are certainly fortunate to have her as a part of the RMSA Family.”
Additionally, Ms. Cantrell sets high expectations for instruction. She collaborates with her colleagues across the district to plan curriculum, implement differentiated instruction, and provide meaningful learning opportunities for her students. Ms. Caroline Baum, teacher at RMSA, shares, “Her volleyball girls know her as Coach C and rave about the support she provided not only on the volleyball court, but the love and understanding that a true mentor who has obviously and meaningfully left a profound impact on their lives. Even though she had high expectation for these girls, they all claim that they have grown and become better athletes and students due to the rigor she demanded… which as we all know, led to a District Championship. I think that this is Angie’s best quality as teacher – when you talk to her students, they all say that she sees them where they are and works with them, fueled by her tenacious hard-working spirit.” She truly represents the core values of integrity, community, and leadership that are integral parts of our district
Ms. Cantrell is an asset to our school community and her dedication to her students, school, and profession make her a tremendous asset to Rollings Middle School of the Arts and Dorchester School District Two.
