A little about me...
Blu was in a city shelter when I received a call from Doreen from Loving Touch. It was a Sunday afternoon, and he was due to be euthanized at 6:00 AM Monday morning. They wanted to get him into a foster home, but didn't have one available nor did they even have a staff member to get to the shelter in time to stop the process. I had just lost my beloved pit bull Petie and was not ready for another dog, but my husband Roy and I went to meet him. He was the craziest, most feral dog I had ever met, but my husband fell in love, so we agreed to foster him. This poor, unloved dog had a hidden bone marrow infection (masked by the antibiotics he was on for upper respiratory infection). It took a long time, long term antibiotics, multiple pain killers, and a lot of care and attention, but he healed (physically). After years of working on his emotional issues (and dealing with torn clothes, scratches, bruises, and even broken ribs!) I fell in love with this misunderstood dog. It took him months just to learn how to wag his tail! Needless to say, I couldn't hand him over to anyone who wouldn't understand his needs, so we adopted him. He is now 15 years old, vision and hearing impaired, but still full of life.
