A little about me...
Found wandering the streets of Queens, my Ruby was rescued by Paul and Doreen Eiseman when she was about three or four years-old. I had been wanting to adopt a dog in a "desperate situation" and a mutual friend of ours told me about my girl. Boarded in a vet's office for several weeks, she ultimately overstayed her welcome. She had become cage aggressive, her skin and fur were reeking from mange, and she had patches of fur missing. Her prospects for finding a home were slim - just what I was looking for! Paul and Doreen brought Ruby to my apartment and so began our years-long relationship.
I religiously treated her mange and her once smelly, patchy, fur became luxurious. I'll never forget being on the street with Ruby, about a year after I adopted her, and overhead two people remark, "that's one of those show dogs!" Yes, she was beautiful, inside and out although to be honest, she could also be a little difficult at times, biting me if she didn't like something I was doing. But those times were few and far between and we developed a great bond.
She eventually lived with three feline siblings one of whom, when Ruby became blind, became her seeing eye cat! She had a good life and was with me till she was about 17 years-old. Adopting the seemingly unadoptable will always be my mantra.
