We adopted Sammy from the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society in 2008. She quickly became the best friend of my entire family… including my dad who ‘never wanted a dog’. Sammy and our family did everything together— whether this was driving around, going out on the boat, listening to music, or dealing with the harder parts of life. Sammy was always by our side. We truly grew up together— she was with me from age 7 to age 19, experiencing the biggest moments of my life alongside me. We had to say goodbye to our best friend in the fall of 2022 after 13 beautiful years together. I still think of Sammy every day and how grateful I am to have spent these years with her.
