Since 1908, Kitsap Humane Society in Silverdale, WA, has served as more than a shelter for the pets and people of Kitsap County and beyond. In the last decade, KHS’ lifesaving rate has improved dramatically as one of the leading animal welfare organizations in the Pacific Northwest, achieving 96% (or better) lives saved for the last seven years.
Together, our team of staff, volunteers, fosters, and community supporters work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving homes for thousands of animals in our community every year. KHS offers dedicated programs and resources such as reuniting lost pets with their families, adoptions, animal care and control and behavioral and owned pet support. Our Pet Food Pantry and Pet Protection Program supports at-risk pets and their families with free pet food and supplies, thanks to the donations of compassionate community members, as well as temporary pet foster for people experiencing unexpected life changes. We also offer community spay/neuter surgeries as well as pet licensing and end-of-life services.
