We lost both our Scotties, 8 years ago; one to bladder cancer and one to renal failure. We weren't looking to adopt but stopped at the Kanawha Shelter on a Sunday afternoon to just look. We saw Oakie in a large dog run and he had his back to us and he was so sad and scared. We were getting in our car and my husband and I looked at each other and we knew we fell in love with this little fella. For four days after that, my husband Rick, went to the shelter every day to walk Oakie and he even took him a blanket; Thursday came and he was able to be adopted on that day. My husband was at the shelter before it opened and the rest is beautiful history. We also adopted a Scottie two months later; she was in the same run as Oakie.
