The Jacksonville Humane Society is a local, independent non-profit that has sheltered and cared for animals in Jacksonville, FL, and the surrounding areas since 1885. In 2005, JHS officially became a no-kill shelter.
Today, we care for over 8,000 cats and dogs each year. In addition to pet adoptions, we offer humane education for adults and youth, low-cost veterinary care, behavior assistance and training, pet retention resources such as a pet food bank, and other lifesaving programs. We are dedicated to providing care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals.
