Ellie was rescued out of an over crowded shelter in Kentucky. She was covered in ticks, emaciated and very pregnant. Katie contacted IBR for help with getting a better tick borne disease diagnosis and sadly with more reliable testing Ellie was found to have at least Ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. As her newborns were struggling- consulting with IBR over our litters, they were started on oral meds and started to nurse properly for the first time. Ellie will need treatment for a long time and her puppies will also need to be medicated once they move to foster to adopt and that cost will be very high.
