Lola
Pet's Story or Bio
Wednesday night on my way home from work in Tampa in the rain, I was alerted there was an aussie mix at the Animal Shelter in Brandon. I raced over just to be told she was at back in Tampa at the Humane Society. I called daily to try to see her. She was on hold as a stray and could not be seen. Then she was getting spayed. I begged to even just take a look! Eventually I gave up and visited other adoptable dogs but could not find the connection I was looking for. Then one night I looked online and saw she had been moved to the adoptable page. I was there when the doors opened the next morning. I walked through all the adult kennels expecting a medium sized aussie. She was no where to be seen. Discouraged, I wondered back into the puppy room. I greeted every happy face and wondered if any of these little guys could end up coming home with me. Cage after cage, I shifted to my left. I reached the very last cage with the very last dog and there she was. Lola. The 6 month old mini aussie / pomeranian mix weighing in at 8lbs. Her fluffy, curved tail immediately began wagging as she hid as far back in her crate as possible. She peed all over the volunteer when we took her out. Once in the visitation kennel though her confidence shined!! She prance all around and teased all the big dogs nearby. It was love at first sight. She has now been with us 8 months and she is the love of my life (my fiance being a close 2nd place). Here is a photo of her laying her in favorite position: upside down in my lap with legs spread. Begging for a belly rub. Exhausted from a day of playing with her other doggy friends. I am so grateful for the experience which will always bring tears to my eyes. It truly was meant to be for us.
